Shakin' things up over here... We're getting crafty. If you follow me on Instagram, it will have become apparent that I am pretty much obsessed with pom poms. We're talking pom poms on my shoes, paper pom poms hanging in my living room, and I've now spent the last two weeks making a big-ass fluffy one. Want to know how I made it? Grab some snazzy wool, a cuppa, and read on:

You will need:

Cardboard (cereal box will do)
Something circular to cut around (I used a candle base and a plate)
Wool in your chosen colour (I used about 4 large balls in total, in different shades of grey and coral)
A lorra lorra patience

Step 1: Use your circular objects and cut out two large circles of cardboard, depending on how big you want your pom pom to be. Cut smaller circles in the middle of both pieces, then sandwich them together and you're ready to get cracking with the wool.

Step 2: Thread the wool through the hole and keep looping it through until you've gone right around the circle. If you want to change colours, just tie the new colour onto where you left off. The aim of the game is to keep looping until there's no hole left in the middle. Told ya you'd need patience!

Step 3: Keeeeeep looping! (This just reminded me of 'just keep swimming just keep swimming' from Finding Nemo, what a film!!) I digress...

Step 4: Once you get to the middle, pour yourself a large gin and give yourself a pat on the back. Then, leave a length of wool unlooped, as this is what you'll hang it with. Next comes the scary bit. I was gen so nervous cutting around as this pom pom was my little lovechild (ew!) for nearly two weeks! When you've plucked up the courage, get your scissors and just start cutting all the way around the edge of the circle, in-between your two bits of cardboard.

Step 5: Once you've cut all around and can relax in the knowledge that it hasn't all fallen apart, separate your two bits of cardboard. Next, use some leftover wool (or string is fine as you won't see this) and tie it around in-between the cardboard sandwich. Wrap it around a few times and tie it really tight, then you can gently rip off the cardboard. Give it a shake....

And heeeeeey presto! One big ol' fluffy pom pom! I did give mine a little 'hair cut' to make sure the ends are all nice and neat, and then it went straight up in my bedroom. I may or may not have had one leg balanced on my bed and the other on my bedside table in order to reach the ceiling, but we got there in the end!

So whadda you think? Are you going to give it a go? Let me know if you do give it a whirl, we can be pom pom pals! *sassy girl emoji*
